June heralds the arrival of summer, and we’ve put together a variety of special activities for our residents. Some, like our therapy pony, Mr Kelloggs, are back by very popular demand. Others, such as the 15-piece ukulele band and West End singer, are new. We’ve even lined up a trip to our local cinema to see a dementia-friendly screening of that classic feel-good musical, “Summer Holiday” starring Cliff Richard – to help us get into that summer feeling, no matter what the British weather delivers!
June 1st: Outing to Bournemouth pier

What? Fingers crossed for some sunshine as we visit this Victorian pier with its amazing views across the bay. Take time to enjoy the scenery, watch the world go by and enjoy a delicious ice cream.
June 2nd: Dance therapy teacher
Who? Residents
What? Get moving with the help of scarfs, soft balls and guided instruction from our dance therapist. This popular session is loved by our residents, who enjoy the lift that dance and movement bring.
June 15th: Shopping trip to Poole (one-to-one)

What? An opportunity to browse Poole’s shops on a personalised, one-to-one basis.
June 20th: Ukulele band

What? Get those feet tapping, sing along and even have a go at playing the ukulele as we play host to a 15-member band. Guaranteed to create lots of fun and smiles for everyone.
June 26th: Sarah Jane Buckley – theatre performer

What? We’ll be bringing the West End to Lilliput today as we play host to Sarah Jane Buckley. Sarah Jane is a professional singer from the West End who will be delighting our residents with a selection of her favourite songs from all the great shows.
June 29th: Cinema outing

What? This is one not to miss – watching Cliff Richard in “Summer Holiday”. We’ll enjoy a dementia-friendly screening in our local cinema (lights and sound are adjusted, the audience are welcome to enjoy the film in a way that they feel most comfortable, and there is easy access for mobility equipment).

What? He’s back by popular demand! VIP Shetland pony, Mr Kelloggs, is always a hit with our residents and is guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone as he tours the home, even popping into the lift to meet residents in their rooms on different floors.
