August 2023 Events At Lilliput House

summer days are here at Lilliput House, check out our events happening this August

As we move into high summer, we’ve got some old favourites back by popular demand, including our saxophonist and alpaca friends. But we’ve added some new experiences too, such as our virtual horse racing event and a wonderful boat trip around Poole Harbour. At the end of the month, we’ll be closing out August with a baking session and our annual tea party to raise money for a well-deserving charity.

Aug 2nd: Virtual horse racing in the lounge

Who? Residents, staff

What? Today we’ll grab a pile of Monopoly money and place our bets! Residents can watch the racing on TV as they enjoy the thrill of cheering on their favourite horse to win and be in with a chance to win a prize for the top three places.

Aug 7th: Alex Rimell, Saxophonist

Who?  Residents

What? Back by popular demand! Sit back, relax and enjoy live music entertainment as Alex treats us to a wonderful selection of all-time favourites from the 1960s. Guaranteed to create some singing and reminiscing!

Aug 9th: Boat trip around Poole Harbour

Who?  Residents and staff

What? The ‘Friends of Dolphin’ is a charity that provides specially designed boats offering accessible trips around the harbour – perfect for anyone with mobility problems. We’ll spend a couple of hours taking in the wonderful views of Poole Harbour, with lunch out as a special treat.

Aug 15th: Alpaca adventure

Who?  Residents, families and staff

What? Experience a taste of South America as we play host to our ever-popular, gentle and curious alpaca visitors. Everyone will be delighted as the alpacas make their way around the home and even venture into the lift to greet our residents in their own rooms on different floors!

Aug 16th: Church service in the lounge

Who?  Residents and staff

What? We’ll be holding our monthly church service in the lounge for our residents with holy communion if they wish. The Rev. Kate from Holy Angels presides over the service and is also available to talk to residents individually in their own rooms.

Aug 28th:  The joy of baking

Who?  Residents and staff

What? Today we’ll be busy making scones and flapjacks in preparation for tomorrow’s tea party. So, who will be the Master Baker at Lilliput?

Aug 29th: Afternoon tea party

Who?  Residents, staff and families.

What? Today we’ll be hosting a tea party to help raise money for world-class research and life-changing support for breast cancer. Last year we raised £26, so this year we’ll definitely be looking to beat that figure!
